GRETSCH 6122 CHET ATKINS COUNTRY GENTLEMAN

The 1964 Gretsch 6122 Chet Atkins Country Gentleman

The Gretsch Gent still has its original Gretsch case lined in red fur! The guitar has recently undergone extensive work to the fretboard, reshaping the ebony profile, refretting using thinner vintage fretwire and recutting the binding around the frets restoring the guitar to its original condition of playability. This top class work was undertaken by Andy Farrel of Kimberly in Nottingham (0115) 9389965.

The serial number on the Gretsches name plate '66099' dates the guitar as a 1964 model.

Chet Atkins developed various modifications to the Gretsch 6122 including the damping system and the fake painted 'f'-holes. This picture also demonstates the lush dark walnut brown finish of the guitar - in amazing condition for a '64
